Eerst maar eens naar Gaastra in Heeg, die voor weinig geld vier nieuwe zeilzakken voor ons heeft gemaakt. Lekker stevig en waterdicht. Vervolgens door het Friso kanaal (ja die is er ook nog, maar vraag niet hoe) voor de wind alleen op de kluiver oostwaarts. Met een dikke vijf Beaufort lopen we dan nog 5-6 knopen. Prima en in de smalle kanalen wel zo veilig en handig, want die kluiver kun je wegdraaien zonder\u00a0<\/span>opschieten (wat vaak onmogelijk is in de kanalen.) Zeven meter lang, zoals de naam doet vermoeden, met ophaal kiel, dus droogvallen en net voldoende krappe accommodatie voor twee personen. Alles bij elkaar net 1200 kilo, hartstikke licht dus. Wij voeren in een lang voorbije koude meivakantie van het Tjeukemeer naar Terherne, met Z 8 Bft op het IJsselmeer en dus 7 landinwaarts. Alleen op een klein puntje genua vlogen we vooruit, recht de fuik van Heerenzijl in aan lager wal. Zelfs op de twee mijl die het Snekermeer lang is, stonden hoge golven. Maar niet getreurd: door de brug van Heerenzijl gekomen zouden we relaxt onder de hoge wal naar de beschutting van Terherne varen.<\/p>\n<p>Nu moet je weten dat &#8220;zijl&#8221; &#8220;keersluis&#8221; betekent en dat bij harde Z-W wind het water in Friesland enorm opgestuwd wordt (we lagen bij Stavoren een keer bijna vast hierdoor omdat het water daar dan sterk zakt). Kortom: de keersluis onder de brug was hierdoor dicht en de brug dus ook. Paniek! We moesten een heel eind tegen de wind in terug om via de sluis van Terherne alsnog in het dorp te komen. Kruisen was geen optie met deze wind. En dan wreekt zich de buitenboordmotor: bij elke golf kwam de schroef gierend boven water en de voortstuwing nam af tot het nulpunt. We kwamen er gewoon niet weg, terwijl het water ons om de oren vloog!<\/p>\n<p>Slechts \u00e9\u00e9n optie restte: bij de brug was \u00a0-slechts beschermd door een rietkraag en landtongetje- een aanleg plekje, enigszins beschermd tegen wind en golven. Met grote moeite legden we daar aan en brachten daar een koude, natte nacht door, terwijl wind en regen de boot geselden. De grote angst was dat na de frontpassage de wind naar het NW zou gaan en we alsnog aan lager wal zouden liggen. Gelukkig gebeurde dat niet. De wind nam iets af tot 6 Bft en de volgende dag motorden we verkleumd en nat (het weer bleef slecht) naar Woudsend om lekker uit eten te gaan. Hier ligt ook de <em>Weddel<\/em>, een gloednieuwe NK28 met de kersverse en erg blije eigenaren Suzanne (op hoeveel manieren kun je die naam verkeerd schrijven?) en Hans, met wie we even kennis gemaakt hebben (op de achtergrond zie je onze boot liggen). Die gaan we nog tegenkomen op het IJmeer en hopelijk ook op het wad.<\/p>\n<p>Het lijkt mooi weer te worden!
